Ranch House Plans: Space Era Beginning

Ranch house plans are the best example of American dream fulfilling possible. In the 1950s first ranch houses were built. They were very different from all the houses that were constructed before. Their main feature was much space in and out the premises.

After the World War II soldiers returned home, they were tired of fighting and wanted to get settled with raising kids and caring wives. The government  promulgated the law about mortgage loans and the first buildings were erected due to the ranch house plans.

The ranch houses were spacious because construction areas were moved to suburbs. Then it became common to live in suburbs and to go to an office by car. At the same time cars became available. That's why garages then were placed over the same roof due to a house plan. The fact that people resided in suburbs made it possible to get larger yards and to choose  ranch house plans giving more room.

A lot has changed since that time, but the main characteristics of ranch house plans remain invariable. There are only several of them, but each is worth attention.

  1. First of all, it is privacy. All the verandas and patios are moved to the back yard. People love privacy and value their personal lives.  A small pool also appears there giving more room for a family to spend a good time together.
  2. Secondly, ranch house plans are known for big windows stretching from a floor to a ceiling letting natural light in. What is more, the premises consists of several big rooms, but a kitchen is a key place where a family gathers.
  3. Thirdly, ranch house plans are rather simple. At the beginning their exterior and interior were hardly decorated, but now ranch house owners embellish them slightly. Because simplicity is a significant thing of the house plans.
